It's emails like this that just make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside about choosing Ubuntu over those other posers.
I also got a birthday wish from Windows Live, but it seemed like more a birthday oriented advertisement for their products (emoticons and avatars) than it did a birthday wish for me.

Google Chrome in Ubuntu
With the help of @ClubUbuntu and this post on his website, I have now installed Google Chrome with Flash support into my Ubuntu 9.04 desktop. So far, I'm pretty impressed.
Ubiquity
If you're a Firefox user and you like to keep things simple, this add-on is pretty damn cool. It's called Ubiquity. Mozilla Labs puts out some pretty cool software, and this is no exception. I've been using this add-on at home and work for 3 or 4 days now and I've gotta say it makes the web a lot easier for me. I've embedded their demo video below, it does a much better job of explaining the software than I ever could.
Browser Proxies & 1 Reason I Prefer Firefox
I use Firefox, almost exclusively, for all of my internet needs. I like the rendering, the plug-ins, and the way it looks. I think, for work at least, the reason I like Firefox the most is the ability to set a proxy server independent from the Windows proxy settings.

Just read an article about a dissatisfied United Airlines customer. After his guitar was broken while flying with United Airlines, Carroll was repeatedly pushed away and told the airline takes no responsibility in damaged personal items. The long and short of the story is United Airlines messed with the wrong person.
Tech Surprise in My Tiny Little Hometown
On about the 4th or 5th day of my trip back home, I got frustrated with my parents dial-up internet and decided to check if any of the neighbors had an open wifi connection I could (all ethics aside) use to check my email. So, I turned on my iPhone, found one, and to my surprise, it is available city-wide.
